For Stafford Loans and private/auxiliary loans -
- Contact the lender you chose when borrowing the loan
- Look up your loan history information via http://studentaid.gov
- Obtain a credit report from a credit bureau. Free credit reports are available annually from each of the three reporting agencies through www.annualcreditreport.com
For Direct Loans -
- Visit the Federal Student Aid website for Direct Loan information at http://studentaid.gov
For loans borrowed while attending other schools or while attending UCLA prior to 1987 -
- Contact the financial aid office of the school you were attending when you took out the loan
- Contact the lender you chose when borrowing the loan
- Retrieve your federal and some school-based loan information through a loan summary provided by the National Student Loan Data System (see above)
- Obtain a credit report. It will contain all of your loans as well as other consumer debt. Free credit reports are available annually from each of the three reporting agencies through www.annualcreditreport.com\
